AL CAPONE'S FAVORITE INN on Lake Winnebago

Not just a rumor, AL CAPONE REALLY HUNG OUT HERE! In today's adventure we dig into the history surrounding Big Al Capone's of Pipe, Wisconsin. This former stagecoach stop located on Lake Winnebago between Fond du Lac and Green Bay is almost 200 YEARS OLD! It also happens to be the THIRD OLDEST BAR in WISCONSIN. Built in 1846 by Henry Furhman, this building once housed a hotel with 22 rooms on the second and third floors, a tavern on the first floor for men only, and an attached ice cream parlor for women and children. During Prohibition, Al Capone drove up from Chicago and frequently stopped here on his way to Mercer, Wisconsin. (Mercer is where Al's brother Ralph Capone lived.) Unlike some of the claims about Al Capone, proof exists that Capone was actually here! The proof is in the form of a single black and white photo that today hangs on the wall behind the bar. Oh, and did I mention... this place is supposedly haunted? Fox Valley Ghost Hunters (the same group that I explored the Summerwind Mansion with) conducted an investigation into some strange occurrences here. They believe a woman and a man haunt this place. Whether you believe in the ghostly hauntings or not, you have to admit, this place is rich with American history. Link to the video I did on the haunted Motel Hell of Maribel Wisconsin. Al Capone reportedly ran a bootleg operation here during Prohibition.    • Witches Open Hell's Gate at Mobster's Secr...   Subscribe to explore with me every week:    / @sightseeingsally   Like my videos?
