The dangers of Drowning | Cave Diver Mod | Casualties: Unknown

Cave Diver is an upcoming gameplay mod for Casualties: Unknown. The mod aims to bring more depth to underwater gameplay, through the addition of new mechanics and items. This video is a demonstration on the additions to drowning. There is a new status called Aspiration that triggers during the later stages of drowning. This is to make the in-game depiction more realistic, as aspiration occurs in roughly 90% of real world drownings. Here are some more details on the mechanics shown (Numbers subject to change): Hypoxia now has an additional visual queue, cyanosis. Blue blush will begin to appear on the Experiment's face at 90% Spo2, becoming strongest at 60% Spo2. While underwater, bubbles will come from the Experiment's mouth whenever they try to speak. There is also a burst of bubbles once aspiration triggers. While aspiration is active, the Experiment is unable to speak. Aspiration triggers at 45% Spo2 while submerged. The Experiment can hold their breath for a minimum of 5 seconds, meaning if you enter the water under the Spo2 threshold you still have a few seconds before aspiration triggers. Once triggered, aspiration causes thorax pain to be capped at 40% minimum until the status is cured (does not yet account for painkillers or opioids). It also causes continuous muscle damage to the thorax, though this damage decreases once muscle health is below 6% (Without this it is impossible to treat aspiration using a bruise kit). The Experiment will automatically cough up the aspirated water once their head has been exposed to the air for 0.5 seconds, (or through the use of other items. More on that later...). However, they cannot cough up the water while unconscious or if they have lung failure. Additionally, you may have noticed the Experiment wearing some unfamiliar headgear. These are the swimming goggles, and they allow for clear vision underwater. They can be crafted, though the recipe and intelligence requirements haven't been fully nailed down yet. There are more mechanics around the swimming goggles, for example a strong blow to the head will knock them off your face, and they can also leak (This hasn't been implemented yet sorry). The mod is still in early stages of development and features are being changed or added constantly. Everything in this video is subject to change.
