Buying and Driving a Vintage Car in Europe – Episode 1: Purchase, Registration and Insurance
Have you ever dreamed of having your own Top Gear-style adventure: buying a vintage, cool, and questionably reliable car then driving it around Europe? If you are a non-EU citizen, this can be very tricky to do. But in this video series, I will tell you how I did it as an American who was able to successfully buy, register, insure, drive, repair, and enjoy a 1995 Audi RS2 all around Europe! This adventure was inspired by a trip my wife and I took five years ago, when we shipped our 1990 964 911 to Europe and drove it 20,000 miles from the Arctic Circle to the Targa Florio in Sicily. We now have a three-year-old, so I wanted a way to recreate our vintage 911 adventure in a car that can fit the whole family. There was only one solution: the Audi RS2! The first video in this series covers how I purchased, registered, and insured the car. Stay tuned for the upcoming episodes that chronicle our adventures and mishaps. It has all been worth it to have a unique European automotive experience in one of my dream cars!
