Hello and welcome to ollisTubes, I'm Oliver, and here we play around with tube radio technology from the last millennium. This is a regulated power supply with EL34 tubes and various output voltages. It's ideal for experimenting with tubes. Unfortunately, the unit has a fault – after a while, the voltage drops, and the maximum output voltage can no longer be set. During the repair, we noticed that the filter capacitors are subjected to a negative voltage as long as the tube rectifier isn't yet operational. We'll look at a different circuit, as there's no schematic for this unit. However, there's a simple solution. This type of power supply has very high operating voltages, well over 500V, and can deliver currents easily sufficient to cause life-threatening injuries. So, here's my warning in particular: Oh, and anyone who tries to replicate what I'm showing here does so at their own risk – these tube devices operate with voltages that are quite capable of killing someone – so be careful, or better yet – get someone who's a professional to do it.** P.S.
