MAIBANG STONE HOUSE | UNTOLD STORY | HISTORY OF DIMASA KINGDOM | DIMA-HASAO | ASSAM TOURISM

Hello Viewers.... Presenting you the iconic sculpture, known as the Monolithic stone house, reigning over more than 200 years at Maibang, built for some significant reasons. Maibang, (52 kms from Haflong)  is a historical place in the Dima-Hasao district of Assam which was once a capital of Dimasa kingdom and now it has become a history. The primary capital of Dimasa Kingdom was in Dimapur, but after 1531 C.E, Dimapur was invaded by the overwhelming force of Ahom dynasty. For this reason the Dimasas were forced to shift at Maibang and Maibang became their 2nd capital. Then, in circa 1720...Maibang was again invaded by the Koche Kingdom, which led to a severe battle between the Dimasa Kachari rulers and Koches. On that period, the King of Koche dynasty was Naranarayan and the battle was led by his younger brother (Commander in chief) - Chilarai. During the battle, a Goddess came in Dimasa King (Harishchandra's) dream and he asked the Goddess to give him powers for defeating his enemy. The Goddess kept one condition...She told that if he can built a stone house by one stone within the night he will find some weapons inside the stone house by which he can defeat his enemy. But, unfortunately....luck didn't favoured...When he was starting to build the stone house, suddenly a cock crowned before finishing the night. Unfortunately, the disappointed Dimasa king (Harishchandra) left his incomplete work and the battleground.....as a result the Dimasa kingdom losed the battle. In this way, the incomplete work of the king is still reigning over 200+ years and it is believed that this stone house was dedicated to Goddess Ranachandi in 1721. For that reason this Maibang stone house is oftenly called as Ranachandi temple. Thats all for today. Hope you have enjoyed this video.
