In recent months, the tone of the American administration towards the Kremlin has become more critical, amid the war in Ukraine and the lack of progress towards peace. Vladimir Putin no longer has Trump as a friend. More recently, Diana Șoșoacă is perceived by many as a good political friend of the Kremlin leader. Those who are trying to compromise the idea of ​​the unification of the Republic of Moldova with Romania have been known for many years and should not monopolize public attention. Instead, the two governments, from Chisinau and Bucharest, are taking concrete steps through joint energy interconnection projects, road infrastructure development, transport modernization and other investments that are bringing the two banks of the Prut ever closer together. In 2018, the Parliament in Bucharest declared that any discussion on reunification depends primarily on the will of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, and Romania would be prepared for this scenario. At this point, it seems more realistic for Moldova to continue its path to joining the European Union. Within the EU, the Republic of Moldova and Romania will be part of the same political, economic and legal space. Igor Grosu must become prime minister. PAS has held power for six years and can no longer afford to play at governing. It is time for results and taken decisions. Moldova is walking on the edge. If we do not respect European rigors and do not continue reforms, we risk compromising our European path and facing serious economic difficulties. The opposition is intensifying its attacks on President Maia Sandu, trying to damage her image and fuel tensions within PAS. In parallel, there is increasing talk of protests and pressure to call early parliamentary elections. However, it is unlikely that early elections will be held. PAS must continue to assume governance, reform itself, put its own ranks in order and focus on results. If Maia Sandu is discredited, this could create internal instability and could benefit Russian interests in Moldova.
