Roach Reflections Part 5 - Reels for Floatfishing
In Part 5 of this series I look at the options for suitable reels for floatfishing for roach which usually means ones that are good to use with reel lines of between 1.5 and 3lb, to fish wagglers, sticks and Avon/Bolo floats. My preference is for the old Mitchell Match 440A reels but they're far from the only option, and like other reels, they have both advantages and disadvantages. There are circumstances where other much more modern fixed-spools, closed-face and centrepin reels may be more suitable. There's a lot of truth in the adage that practice something for 10,000 hours and if you can gain improvement along the way then you should be able to master a skill, and that's very much the case with the reels discussed in this video. Try a new or different type of reel and it's going to take some mastering.
