Aboard the dead ships, crews sit frozen with peaceful smiles, their consciousness extracted by an ancient entity that believes it's offering salvation through eternal preservation. As the entity begins claiming Kessler's crew one by one, copying their minds while trapping them in their own bodies, the survivors must make an impossible choice: accept immortality in the entity's vast collection of preserved consciousness, or fight for the right to remain mortal, temporary, and truly alive. This is a story about what it means to be human, the value of mortality, and why some gifts are more terrifying than any curse.
