Recently, we shared the news about the Supreme Court's ruling in Rutherford. In short, the Court ruled that federal judges cannot grant compassionate release based on non-retroactive sentencing changes from the First Step Act. Because of this decision, 12 people who were already released and are successfully rebuilding their lives are in imminent danger of being sent back to prison. For some, this means facing up to 30 more years behind bars. They are working, supporting families, and contributing to their communities. Now, clemency from the White House is their only remaining chance for relief and justice.
