Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion - Fly Octo Fly ~ Ebb & Flow Remix [with @blandwhitecube]

Thank you for watching! There's no denying that the Splatoon games' OSTs are filled to the brim with top-tier tracks, and the final boss theme of Splatoon 2's Octo Expansion is in a class of its own. In celebration of the series' 10th anniversary, fellow VGM enthusiast ‪@blandwhitecube‬ and I are excited and proud to share with you our rendition of this iconic song duo - we hope it'll get you amped up! 🐙🦑 For this remix, Bland White Cube and I wanted to keep the original arrangement and style largely intact, while embellishing it with new details and a revamped instrumentation. Bland, who is both a Splatoon veteran and expert musician, incorporated numerous references from the series, including a wonderful arranged ending that ties everything together beautifully. His choice synths and FX both pay homage to the original sound style and expand upon what made it so good to begin with, and I really can't say enough about how much life and energy he imbued into this piece. On that note, I want to also express what a genuine pleasure and privilege it was to work with him on this project. Bland is a longtime friend of mine in the VGM community, and he's as kind and earnest as they come. On his own channel, Bland White Cube creates fantastic originals and remixes, with a particular focus on Sonic and Mario soundtracks. His energetic, yet easy-on-the-ears sound style is unlike any other, and it's certain to put a smile on your face each time. As always, a huge and hearty thank-you goes out to my wife and artist partner, Kali Lyon, for the stylish and charming designs of the Splatoon idols and their group icons, as well as Agent 3 - I just love those vibrant colors and that bold linework!
