In this video, we visit Akşehir, a historic city in central Turkey, in the Konya province, where ancient streets, museums, madrasas, tombs, and mosques tell different layers of Turkish history. 🇹🇷 We begin by exploring the city streets and continue to the Taş Medrese, an ancient Seljuk madrasa transformed into the Akşehir Taş Eserler Müzesi, the Museum of Stone Works. There, we see tombstones, inscriptions, pots, urns, architectural fragments, and artifacts that help us understand the religious, urban, and daily life of the region. Afterwards, we visit the Akşehir Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography, with archaeological objects, costumes, utensils, weapons, and elements related to traditional local life. In the final part, we pass by three important landmarks of medieval Akşehir: the Ferruhşah Mescidi, the Seyyid Mahmud Hayrani Türbesi, and the interior of the İplikçi Cami, a historical mosque associated with the 14th century. Akşehir is a city of layers: Seljuk, Ottoman, traditional, and contemporary.
