Thank you so much for being amazing ❤️ The New Hall Inn, located on Lowside in Bowness and dating back to around 1650, is a historic pub that gained its license in 1866 and was known as the "Hole in t'Wall" by 1890, possibly due to a literal hole used to pass drinks to nearby blacksmiths and ostlers. Once home to Thomas Longmire, a renowned wrestler and landlord from 1852 to 1862, the inn grew into one of Bowness’s largest pubs after being acquired by John Booth in 1880, with significant changes made to the building. By 1907, it was the oldest licensed house in Bowness, attracting working-class patrons like boatmen, and by 1931, it was a lively spot for dominoes, darts, and mild beer. The pub, which earned its Grade II listing in 1973, was acquired by Robinsons Brewery in 1982, cementing its place as a cherished local landmark. https://holeintwall.co.uk/ The World of Beatrix Potter™ Attraction in Bowness-on-Windermere is a vibrant, family-friendly visitor centre that brings all 23 of Beatrix Potter’s enchanting tales to life, immersing guests in the sights, sounds, and smells of the Lake District countryside.
