How did Shri Radha Govind Dev Ji come from Vrindavan to Jaipur? | Shri Govind Dev Ji Mandir | Jaipur | SANTVANI #jaipurgovinddevjitemple #kartikmangladarshan #dailygovinddevdarshan Local historians believe that this temple of Lord Govind Dev, also known as Lord Krishna, is one of the oldest temples in Vrindavan. This temple, dedicated to the Vaishnav sect, was built by Raja Mansingh in 1590. The Govind Dev Temple was constructed under the supervision of Sanatan Guru and great Krishna devotee Shri Kalyandas Ji. However, Raja Mansingh bore the entire cost of the temple's construction. At the time of construction, the temple was seven stories tall, and a huge lamp was erected on the top floor, and more than 50 kilograms of pure ghee was used to keep the wick flame burning daily. This was the reason why the temple was visible from several kilometers (km) away. The brightness of this huge lamp proved to be its enemy. Seeing the flame of this lamp in the temple, the then Mughal invader Aurangzeb became jealous, and the beauty of this magnificent temple became unsettling to him. Driven by this jealousy and hatred for Hindus, he finally ordered his army to demolish the Govind Dev Temple. By some divine grace, the temple priest became aware of Aurangzeb's plan and sent the ancient idol of Lord Govinda, installed in the temple, far away from Vrindavan, to Jaipur, where it was installed in the Govind Dev Temple located in Kanak Bagh. Indeed, Aurangzeb arrived with his army to demolish the temple. The temple's grandeur was so great that Aurangzeb's army could only demolish four floors. In an attempt to destroy and desecrate the temple, Aurangzeb offered prayers there and built mosque structures and domes over the remaining temple. Although the temple remained in the same condition as it was left by Aurangzeb until 1873, restoration work began, removing the alterations Aurangzeb had made to the temple and rebuilding it. The temple was 200 feet long and 120 feet wide.
