Dahu Jianshan (also known as Jiandongzai Mountain, or Jianshan by locals) has an elevation of 1313 meters and no base station at the summit. Don't assume that all the Lesser Hundred Peaks are easy to climb. At least, I don't think Dahu Jianshan in Chiayi is such a friendly mountain. My impression of Dahu Jianshan was that it has an elevation gain of 400 meters and a round trip distance of about 2 kilometers, with the entire route consisting of stairs. Looking at the climbing data alone, it seems okay. However, after actually climbing it, I found that Dahu Jianshan is definitely not an approachable Lesser Hundred Peak. The roads are slippery, and the stairs are spaced far apart. The most frightening thing was the army of ants crawling all over the handrails. For people with trypophobia, climbing this mountain really takes a lot of courage! The Dahujianshan Trail has two entrances. We started from the first pavilion entrance. You can park your car in the farmhouse area opposite the pavilion; the space is small and can accommodate about 3-4 vehicles. From the first pavilion, after crossing the cement bridge, there's a steep path lined with cedar trees. This section of the cement path is likely very slippery and difficult to walk on in the rain. After walking for about ten minutes, you'll reach the entrance to the Dahujianshan Trail. There are informational signs for the Dahujianshan Trail next to the steps. The steps have stone steps and handrails for support. Following the stone steps upwards, you'll reach the second and third pavilions. The third pavilion leads in another direction towards the second trailhead of Dahujian Mountain. From the third pavilion onwards, the stone steps become steeper, slipperier, and more difficult to climb, with only a few viewpoints along the way. Just keep climbing, focused on the climb, and you'll eventually reach the summit. At the summit, there are no bases or views, only a large rock and a pavilion. Take some photos of your summit and then descend the same way. My takeaway from climbing Dahujian Mountain is: its lack of distinctive features is its defining characteristic.
