The Lost Son (Prodigal Son) Central Park NYC Youth Outreach

The lesson that Jesus is teaching is that the father, (God) will never stop loving us no matter how far we wander from home. We are born into sin but because of Jesus taking our sins upon the cross for us, we can always repent, accept Jesus as our savior and come home to God. In the parable it doesn't say that the father sat on the porch and waited as the son was coming home. It says that the father, upon seeing his son coming home, ran. He ran to his son, hugged him and welcomed him back home. Nothing made the father in the parable more happy than to have his son that was counted as lost, return home. That is how God our Father feels about each of us. No matter how far we run from him or how low we get or what we have done. God will always take us back.
