As you watch, look for these remarkable historical details: • Christ-Logos & The Armed Angel (Verses 5-6): In the upper left, a youthful, cross-nimbed Christ-Logos steps out of a circular mandorla (divine aura) to hand a cross-spear to an angel. This represents the Lord arising to defend the oppressed. • Smiting Flattering Lips (Verse 3): In the lower right, the very same angel is shown repeated in action, using the spear to smite the "flattering lips" of a group of wicked soldiers. • The Poor and Needy (Verse 5): In the middle section below Christ, a group of nine impoverished figures and cripples gather, representing the vulnerable whom the Lord promises to protect. • The Wicked Walking in Circles (Verse 8): In the lower foreground, the artist creates a literal visual pun on the Latin text ("in circuitu impii ambulant").
