Train Your Eye to Draw Better with 10 Minute Sketch with Me

Train Your Eye to Draw Better with 10 Minute Sketch with Me BRIENNE M BROWN If you want to draw better, one of the most effective things you can do is sketch regularly and it doesn't have to take hours. In this 10 minute sketch with me session, I'm sketching on location and focusing on a simple drawing approach that helps train observation, hand-eye coordination, and confidence. The goal isn't to create a finished artwork. The goal is to practice seeing relationships between shapes and to build the habit of drawing consistently. CHAPTERS: 00:00 10 Minute Sketch with Me 00:28 Start the Timer and Sketching 10:34 Stop Sketching 10:47 Conclusion One of the biggest mistakes I see artists make is waiting until they have a large block of free time before they practice. In my experience, a short daily sketching routine is far more valuable than an occasional long drawing session. That's why I set a timer for 10 minutes and stop when the timer goes off, even if the sketch isn't finished. For this sketching practice, I'm using a relationship method, moving from one shape to the next and focusing on how objects connect to each other. I'm not chasing perfection. I'm not worried about creating a masterpiece. I'm simply training my eye to see more accurately and teaching my hand to respond to what I observe. Whether you draw from life, work from photographs, sketch in a café, sit in your studio, or draw your morning coffee cup, the important thing is showing up and practicing. Over time, these small sessions improve observation skills, drawing confidence, and even painting ability because drawing and painting both depend on learning how to see. This sketch drawing exercise focuses on observation, shape relationships, visual accuracy, confidence building, and developing a sustainable daily drawing habit. I work through the sketch naturally, searching for lines, simplifying shapes, observing proportions, and building a believable drawing without worrying about perfection. The sketch remains unfinished when the timer ends, and that's completely intentional. The practice matters more than the finished result. If you're interested in sketching for beginners, learning to draw from scratch, improving your observational skills, or finding a realistic drawing routine that fits into a busy schedule, I think you'll find this approach helpful. It's simple, practical, and something you can start today with nothing more than a sketchbook and a pencil. Thank you for joining me for another sketch with me session. I hope this encourages you to grab a sketchbook, set a timer, and spend 10 minutes drawing today. Happy drawing!
