1980s Sonor Signature African Bubinga Heavy – 10/12/14/20

A rare Sonor Signature African Bubinga Heavy drum kit from the mid-1980s, presented in an unusually attractive and hard-to-find 10/12/14/20 configuration. Introduced in 1980, the Sonor Signature series represented the absolute top of Sonor's drum production throughout the 1980s. The Heavy series features massive 12-ply beech shells with genuine African Bubinga veneer on both the exterior and interior. Deep shell dimensions and extremely solid construction were defining elements of the Signature concept. This is a second-generation Signature Bubinga kit, featuring matching Bubinga bass drum hoops. Sizes: 10" x 10" rack tom 12" x 12" rack tom 14" x 16" floor tom 20" x 17" bass drum The 10/12/14/20 configuration is far from common for a Signature Heavy kit. Many Signature sets from this period were built around larger bass drums and larger tom sizes. The 14" Signature floor tom is particularly desirable and difficult to find. The complete kit has received a full professional service at Vintage Drums Norway. The drums were disassembled and thoroughly cleaned, while all hardware was inspected, polished, lubricated and adjusted. All mechanical functions have been checked. The toms are fitted with new Remo Emperor Clear batter heads. The bass drum has nearly new heads: a Remo Powerstroke Pro batter head and Evans Ebony resonant head. A new Sonor logo has also been fitted to the front head. The kit is in exceptionally good condition. Technically, everything is in top working order, while cosmetically the drums remain very well preserved. There are some minor signs of use in the exterior Bubinga veneer, but considering that these drums date from the mid-1980s, the overall condition is excellent.
