HUGE Duke Power Substation 1940s Insulator Dump
I searched a substation originally built circa 1910 by the Southern Power Company looking for the remains of the transformer house. Way back in the woods was huge insulator dump of insulators that replaced the original 1910s insulators. The current substation is owned by Duke Energy and built in the 70s, 80s, or 90s. When it was built all of the insulators from the 30s-40s substation were pushed into the woods near a creek. The insulator dump is spread out over a acre or two of property. Most of the insulators are 1930s and 1940s. I did find a few Thomas and OB from the early 1900s. Where are the rest of the original insulators? I have yet to find it.
