Roots Return Home: The Story of Two Families Reuniting After a Century. A story of Javanese families reuniting in Suriname after a century of separation. It is truly an honor for @BangFuStory to be a "bridge" for the reunion of two families separated for almost a century. 1929 - 2026. There is sorrow, sadness, drama, and joy in the end. This is the true story of a Javanese contract worker sent to Suriname in 1929, but reported to his family as missing or even dead. It turns out he had children in the Netherlands, having chosen to go to the Netherlands among three options under the 1950s policy: stay in Suriname, return to Indonesia, or migrate to the Netherlands. There have been five to six searches in Indonesia by the Dutch diaspora to trace their family tree. But to no avail! And... armed with a cell phone camera and the perseverance to explore the Dutch archives on nationalarchieve.nl, BangFu was part of the reunion of these two families. It was truly a blessing, a disguised blessing, and an honor to be part of the reconnection of these two families: Javanese and Dutch, former Surinamese, and their extended families in Bumijawa, Tegal, Sirampog, Brebes, Central Java, Subang, and Sumedang, West Java. @BangFuStory, through this video, wants to inform the public about the completion and accomplishment of this humanitarian mission. With full respect for the privacy of these two families, allow BangFu to create a reflective note about the history of contract workers, the search for identity, and the longing for ancestral homeland, and how to look forward to a better future.
