Viajo en Moto a un Pueblo Olvidado de la Ruta de La Plata

In this video, I take a motorcycle trip along the historic Silver Route (Vía de la Plata), one of the oldest, most important, and least-known routes on the Iberian Peninsula. On my Suzuki, I travel along part of this ancient axis that for centuries was key to trade, warfare, religion, and territorial control, connecting northern and southern Hispania from pre-Roman, Roman, and medieval times. Throughout the journey, I research and explain the history of the Silver Route, from its origins as a natural path used by pre-Roman peoples, its transformation into a major Roman road, and its subsequent use during Al-Andalus and the Christian Middle Ages. This route was not only a trade route but a true historical backbone along which armies, merchants, pilgrims, and military orders traveled. The journey takes me to one of the most important sites on this historic route: Montemolín Castle. A fortress situated at a strategic point overlooking the roads and surrounding territory, closely linked to border control during the Reconquista. In this video, I delve into the history of Montemolín Castle, its origins in the Islamic period, and its subsequent role under Christian rule. Its connection to the Order of Santiago, one of the most powerful military orders of the Middle Ages in Spain, deserves special attention. Montemolín Castle formed part of the Order's defensive and administrative system, serving to protect routes, secure conquered territory, and guarantee passage along the Silver Route (Vía de la Plata). From this fortress, roads were monitored, defenses were organized, and power was exercised in a key area of the southwestern Iberian Peninsula. This is not just a motorcycle video. It's a motorcycle travel documentary, combining motorcycle touring, Spanish history, historical heritage, and adventure. A journey through medieval castles, historical routes, and landscapes that still bear the imprint of centuries of history. Traveling by motorcycle along the Silver Route is like riding a road steeped in history, where every curve and every hill tells a story. If you're interested in motorcycle routes in Spain, medieval history, forgotten castles, the Order of Santiago, the Reconquista, or motorcycle trips with cultural and historical content, this video is for you. A journey where the motorcycle is the means and history is the true destination.
