Why doesn’t it need earth sleeving ? “According to the 17th edition, clause 514.6.1 (i) colour marking can be omitted on bare conductors where permanent identification is not practicable. This is the case with Quickwire as the patented mechanism that guides and separates the 3 conductors must only allow a single (and never two!) conductors into the earth position. Thus the size of the hole for the earth cannot accept the additional diameter of an earth sleeve either. There is another reason as well. When the cable is fully inserted into a Quickwire the earth sleeving, had it been possible to fit, would not be visible. So the Earth symbol as marked on the product becomes the identifier. The only way to see if there had been an earth sleeve would be to remove the cable entirely – in which case it is disconnected and no longer part of the accessory! It’s a bit like not knowing if the light has gone off when you’ve shut the fridge door.”
