Oikawa was originally Michael Kaiser, born in Berlin, Germany, following his original timeline. 2. His mother abandoned him, leaving him in the care of his abusive father. 3. As a child, he met Alexis Ness, and through soccer, the two formed a genuine bond. 4. However, his father discovered their friendship and threatened Ness, forcing him to stay away. 5. Kaiser was left alone once again—losing the only person who ever chose to stay. 6. Unable to endure it any longer, he ran away, abandoning his home and surviving on the streets. 7. He was later found by Mr. and Mrs. Oikawa, Japanese tourists who chose to take him in. 8. They brought him to Japan, giving him a new identity and appearance, as Kaiser refused to speak of his past. 9. There, he became Oikawa Tōru and met Hajime Iwaizumi, beginning his life in volleyball. 10. From that point on, his life followed the original Haikyuu storyline. 11. Until Seijoh’s final loss to Karasuno High, crushing their last chance at nationals. 12. Oikawa could not accept it—not after everything he had poured into winning. 13. Faced with that loss, he made a choice: to abandon everything he built and start over. 14. He returned to Germany, reunited with Ness, and devoted himself fully to soccer once more. 15.
