A Conversation with Artist Nona Jane Kendall

Nona Jane Kendall speaks about her exhibition "Where Life Wanders An Artist’s Adventures of Home and Beyond", her involvement in the early days of The Square, and her passion for travel and education. This exhibition was originally on view February 20 — April 18, 2026. This celebratory exhibition honors the lifelong creative journey of artist, educator, and community member Nona Jane Kendall. With artwork that spans more than seven decades, the exhibition features primarily acrylic paintings alongside early watercolors and added works in varied mediums — offering visitors an intimate look at an artist who has never stopped observing, learning, and making. This exhibition was curated by Nicole Maria Evans, Chief Curator/ Director of Curatorial Affairs. Exhibitions at the museum are supported in part by the Montana Arts Council, a state agency funded by the State of Montana, and the National Endowment for the Arts. We are funded in part by coal severance taxes paid based upon coal mined in Montana and deposited in Montana's cultural and aesthetic projects trust fund. Additional funding is provided by museum members and the citizens of Cascade County, Davidson Family Foundation, D.A.
