New Water Treatment Plant Aids Muddy Creek Restoration (2018)
A new $8.5 million water treatment plant near Albright, West Virginia is the final piece in the restoration of the lower Cheat River watershed. A pair on mine blowouts in the 1990s that dumped millions of gallons of untreated acid mine drainage into Muddy Creek, a tributary of the Cheat River.
