Famous for containing eight of the world's ten highest mountains—including Mount Everest—it is a global hub for mountaineering, trekking, and rich cultural heritage that beautifully blends Hindu and Buddhist traditions. The Terai: A low, flat, and highly fertile plain in the south that supports most of the nation's agriculture.The Hill Region (Pahad): Centrally located subalpine forested hills and valleys, such as the Kathmandu and Pokhara valleys.The Mountain Region (Himal): The alpine north containing the Great Himalaya Range, which includes the world-famous ⁠Mount Everest. Birthplace of Buddha: ⁠Lumbini, located in the southern plains, is the sacred birthplace of Siddhartha Gautama, the founder of Buddhism.Capital City: ⁠Kathmandu is the historic and political capital, renowned for its ancient maze-like alleys, wooden temples, and ⁠UNESCO World Heritage-listed Durbar Squares.Festivals: Calendars are filled with vibrant celebrations like Dashain and Tihar.
