CON MÁS DE MIL DEPORTISTAS COMENZÓ EL PROGRAMA GIMNASIO PUERTAS ABIERTAS

The Open Doors Gym program, which the Municipality of Puerto Montt, with the support of the Municipal Council, is implementing at five educational establishments, began with more than a thousand athletes from 17 clubs. The program aims to promote physical activity among children and young people in the city, with the aim of promoting physical activity among children and young people in the city. The pilot program makes the gyms available to the community, free of charge, for recreational, educational, and competitive training for clubs that practice basketball, volleyball, skating, cheerleading, rhythmic gymnastics, freeskating, and taekwondo, among others. Coordinated by the Department of Sports, the gyms operate between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and on weekends. To date, they have approximately 1,200 athletes each week, including children, young people, and adults. The parents who accompany the young athletes on each day expressed positive opinions about the municipal initiative. The Mayor of Puerto Montt, Rodrigo Wainraigt Galilea, highlighted the positive response from the community to this pilot project, "which will allow us to promote sports." The facilities are the gymnasiums of the Manuel Montt, Industrial, and Isidora Zegers high schools; and the Libertad and Alemania schools. The funds allocated by the Municipality of Puerto Montt to the Open Doors Gymnasiums program were unanimously approved by the Municipal Council. These funds were used to hire staff for each facility, responsible for opening and closing the gymnasiums, as well as monitoring sports activities, among other tasks.
