The first hearing of the Investigating Committee looking into allegations against suspended mayor Guilherme Gonçalves was postponed after the investigated party failed to appear and could not be located for personal notification. According to committee members, the decision was made to guarantee the right to a full defense and due process, avoiding any risk of the process being nullified. The four witnesses summoned by the defense appeared at the City Council, but were dismissed. Councilors Marcinho, Wesley Carlos, and the City Council's legal counsel, Dr. João Paulo Penha, explained that further attempts at notification will be made. If the mayor cannot be found, the summons will be published in the Official Gazette, as provided by law.
