Philippine Made Landing Ships? Josefa Slipways Unveils New LST & LCT
The Philippine Navy's sealift capability could soon receive a major boost as local shipbuilder Josefa Slipways reveals plans to offer new Landing Ship Tank (LST) and Landing Craft Tank (LCT) vessels for future naval requirements. During PhilMarine 2026, the company showcased the VARD 7 510 Landing Ship Tank and VARD 7 507 Landing Craft Tank designs, developed in partnership with VARD, a Fincantieri company based in Italy. If selected by the Philippine Navy, these vessels would be built locally at Josefa Slipways' shipyard in Sual, Pangasinan, further advancing the country's Self-Reliant Defense Posture and strengthening the domestic defense shipbuilding industry. The proposed 100-meter LST can accommodate more than 500 personnel and transport vehicles, equipment, and supplies directly to shore, while the smaller LCT provides additional flexibility for amphibious and logistics missions. In this video, we examine the capabilities of these proposed vessels, their potential role in Philippine Navy modernization, and how locally built amphibious ships could enhance the country's ability to conduct military operations, disaster response missions, and humanitarian assistance across the archipelago. 📺 WATCH NOW: • South Korea to Fund 9 New PCG Patrol Ships... 🛠️ Like | 💬 Comment | 🔁 Share #ModernAFP #DefenseNews #afpmodernizationprogram #afpmodernization #defensenews #philippineairforce #armedforcesofthephilippines #philippinemilitary #defensenews #philippineairforce #philippinemilitary #philippinenavy #philippinearmy #MaritimeSecurity #WestPhilippineSea #MilitaryNewsPH #PNModernization #PHDefenseUpdates #SRDP @PAFVideos @PHILIPPINENAVY @ArmedForcesofthePhilippines @DNDPHL This channel is posting videos of "THE MOWST," state-of-the-art military technology, hardware, and equipment of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
