The last time Airbus launched a truly clean-sheet commercial aircraft was the A350. That program was announced back in 2005. The jet entered service in 2015. But the A320 first flew on 22nd February 1987. The backbone of Airbus revenue in 2026 traces its DNA to a design that was sketched before the Berlin Wall came down. And yet, somewhere in Airbus's naming convention, between the A350 and the A380, two numbers are conspicuously missing. Nobody has ever booked a seat or flown on an Airbus A360. But here’s the thing: there might be no aircraft in aviation history that has never existed yet matters this much. Because the A360 isn't just a product decision.
