One hundred years of spiritual history, prayer and faith. The Mukachevo Monastery of St. Nicholas of the Basilian Fathers solemnly celebrated the 100th anniversary of the enthronement of the Mukachevo Miraculous Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos. The celebrations began with the singing of the rosary and a prayer service to the Most Holy Theotokos. The central event was the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy with the participation of the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Bishop of the Mukachevo Greek Catholic Diocese, Theodore Matsapula, bishops, clergy and numerous pilgrims. The Mukachevo Miraculous Icon has a special history. In 1926, it was presented to the Mukachevo Monastery by Pope Pius XI. During the Soviet persecution, the Basilian monks hid the shrine for decades, saving it from destruction. Only in 1998 was the icon found, and in 2009 it was returned to Mukachevo, where it is still in the monastery church. Currently, the Mukachevo Miraculous Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos is a place of pilgrimage for thousands of believers from Transcarpathia and all of Ukraine. People come here with prayers, thanksgiving and requests for peace, health and God's protection. The anniversary celebrations were not only an opportunity to remember the centuries-old history of the shrine, but also once again confirmed its special spiritual significance for Transcarpathia and all of Ukraine. For a hundred years, the Mukachevo Miraculous Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos has remained a symbol of faith, hope and unity for generations of believers.
