Монорельс — дорогая игрушка Лужкова
The Moscow monorail is an expensive toy. Many understood this when it was first proposed to be built, reasonably speaking about the cost of construction, maintenance costs and low carrying capacity. In addition, most of the route of the monorail is duplicated by a tram. But the project was more political and for PR, because the monorail is so fashionable and innovative. But when everything was built and they looked at the figures, it became sad: about 1 billion rubles in subsidies per year and packed cars quite successfully sobered up the head. Other design errors were revealed: unsuccessful locations for stations; excessive infrastructure capacity of stations; small-radius curves on the most useful section; short service life of the supporting beam. But how to tell everyone that high-ranking officials and ordinary employees miscalculated and got into trouble? They won’t pat you on the head for that. So they started waiting. Fortunately, we didn't have to wait long, the system itself began to collapse: monorail cars simply began to break down, and there are no spare parts or even cars in nature - they are rare and unique goods. As a result, the monorail was transferred to excursion mode. As a result, the question arose "what should we do next?". There are two answers: either close it, or try to reinvent the wheel again, building everything from scratch. The Institute of Thermal Engineering, which made cars for the monorail, would be happy with the second option, because it costs a lot of money. To put it simply, I am an urbanist with an unhealthy love for transport. I am not an architect, so I will not tell you about the choice of materials or different styles of architecture, but I will tell you about the correct urban development policy, how to lay a tram, what a street should be like and how to make a park without drug addicts and alcoholics.
