A safe for under €40 in your own home – can it offer real protection or does it just create a false sense of security? After the spectacular bank robbery in Gelsenkirchen, home safes are booming. But can these inexpensive models withstand a real emergency? We tested three safes: an affordable furniture safe from Kesser for €37, a fireproof model from Mejasg for €100, and a premium safe from Burg Wächter for €279. With a break-in and fire test, we check which models truly offer protection and what you should look for when buying one.
