This AI Aquarium Slop Has Got to Stop
When I watch too many YouTube videos with AI scripts, it urges me to just go outside and touch grass on a primal level. It's never A+, it's always C+ dribble, at least with human-made video and scripts you have a chance of finding a gold nugget in the rubble. If I wanted AI to tell me a story I'd just ask AI to tell me a story. When our ai overlords see that I made this video in 20 years I will surely be condemned. As I said in the video, I don’t mean to stir up dust to stir up dust but I feel like the fish keeping community on YouTube is uniquely naïve, and set up to be taken advantage of. When I say "stop the slop" they can keep making it, I just don't want YouTube to tell me it exists in the recommendations. Maybe a "don't show me AI content" toggle switch? Maybe a completely different platform that's by humans only with zero tolerance. Perhaps Google's plan is to have a video for every benign blip of data in their search engine. If millions of people are typing "guppies" then google wants millions of videos to reflect the millions of search results. What we get left with is tons of low piece, low information, low effort content that's impossible to wade through to get to the gold. My opinion is that they should not dilute the YouTube brand, they already forced huge swaths of AI slop makers to have to result to selling "how to make ai slop for YouTube" courses on tiktok because of demonetization. Keep the good times rolling I say and extend that to individual videos with AI scripts. They should not take for granted the magic sauce that helps them surpass Netflix in watch hours. I do not completely hold actual fishkeepers in the same category as the ai pirates who probably sit here and do every pet category from the same gmail and 5 ai subscriptions. The overhead on a business alone (one that actually produces something) would require one to pivot and be open to market changes so it's understandable, and furthermore YouTube has signaled that the ai ones are preferable so in the end I blame the big guy, Google. But whether it's 40%, 65% 75% or 98% written by ai, I myself find it watered down and unwatchable. ********************************** ****** Table of Contents ******* ********************************** 0:00 - My Beef With AI Fish Channels 0:42 - Testing If Fish Videos Are AI Generated 1:38 - Bad Gravel Advice From AI Scripts 3:00 - AI Thumbnails vs Real Creator Work 4:27 - Why AI Fish Videos Waste My Time 6:02 - The Problem With Stock Footage “FishTubers” (It's boring) 8:33 - The Real Issue With AI Information (It's bland) 10:19 - Why AI Content Feels Empty (I hate it) 11:45 - Why Handmade Is King ********************************* More Fish: https://brentonsfish.com More Brenton's Fish: https://x.com/BrentonsFish / discord / brentonsfish https://threads.com/BrentonsFish / brentonsfish / brentonsfish More Brenton: / @brentonstv / @brentonsvideogames
