The deceased doesn't live in the past; they probably remember your life together, but only sparingly. Why? Because their life continues there. So let yours continue, too. "If they were alive, we would...do something, buy something, build something, go on a trip, and so on." Don't think about it. That won't happen. Something else will! Thinking in that direction will bring you nothing but pain.
