COKI - Mandala Sena

Mandala Sena is an Indonesian creative dance concept that combines and develops traditional dances and musical elements from across the archipelago, especially from Java, Sunda, and Bali. The word Mandala comes from Sanskrit, meaning “circle,” and in ancient Indonesian civilization it also referred to the concept of a kingdom or sphere of unity and influence. Meanwhile, Sena means “army.” Together, Mandala Sena symbolizes a united force moving in harmony within one circle of culture and spirit. Its epic, colossal, and intense musical compositions portray the courage, energy, and determination of an army striving to unite the archipelago. At the same time, the choreography reflects the beauty, elegance, and cultural richness of Indonesia itself — blending movement, rhythm, and tradition into a contemporary artistic expression rooted in Nusantara heritage.
