The text analyzes the historicity of the concept of autonomy in Latin American feminisms, taking as its starting point the Latin American and Caribbean Feminist Encounters (EFLAC), initiated in the 1980s. Based on documents and bibliography, the authors reflect on the role of the Encounters as spaces for transnational feminist integration and the elaboration of definitions of autonomy in the region. Their hypothesis is that the deepening of this debate provided a fundamental political and strategic repertoire for feminist interactions with social movements. Political parties, governments, and state and transnational institutions, making autonomy a central element for understanding feminisms in these countries.
