"I Was Calling Demons Into Triangles": An Occultist's Road to Orthodoxy
If you've ever wondered whether the occult is real, whether demons are real, or whether these practices actually do something, ask Michael. He spent years calling them into triangles. He knows. His conversion story is one of the more sobering accounts you'll hear. As a child, this man tinkered around with spells. Later, he became a Gnostic bishop, a Freemason, and a ceremonial magician who did magic tricks that most people only read about in books called grimoires. He didn't dabble. He researched, trained, taught, and led. His two-car garage became a temple. His life became his work. What's intriguing is how normal the entry points were. A library book about spells, a coworker's recommendation, death anxiety, and the desire to be mentored by a respected person. There was no dramatic occult recruitment. Just incremental steps that seemed reasonable at the time. Father Turbo draws out the main pattern: Someone who is serious about occultism is willing to do the work when no one is looking, or "commit to the bit." To be a serious Christian, you need to have these identical traits. It's someone's inverted integrity that Christ can redeem. Michael's family background is relevant. His ancestors were Quakers who gathered in silence, waiting for "the spirit" to move them until the building shook. Freemasons appeared across multiple generations. This legacy of spiritual seeking (passed down through family lines) found its proper home when he stumbled upon Saint John Chrysostom's writings and Orthodox Christianity.
