Oswaldo Payá Sardiñas: Testimonios sobre el accidente

On July 22nd at 1:50 PM, a Hyundai Accent, license plate T31402, veered off the road and crashed into a tree on the Las Tunas-Bayamo highway, in the town of Las Gabinas, Granma province. In this tragic accident, Oswaldo José Payá Sardiñas and Harold Cepero Escalante died. Ángel Francisco Carromero Barrios and Jens Aron Modig, Spanish and Swedish citizens respectively, sustained minor injuries. During the investigation, it was determined that the vehicle left Havana around 6:00 AM that day, driven by Ángel Carromero, and was headed to Santiago de Cuba. Jens Aron was traveling in the front passenger seat; Oswaldo Payá in the rear passenger seat, and Harold Cepero next to him. Neither Payá nor Cepero were wearing seatbelts.
