7. Solo Road Trip, Nagaur & Jaisalmer, Day (7)...Nagaur-Phalodi (26th Jan 2026)

Got up to a beautiful morning at Nagaur once again, the 4th of the trip. Very unusual by my standards. Had slept inside the car parked at Mela Ground Nagaur, the venue of the annual cattle fair, for the 3rd consecutive night. The reason being the atmosphere at the fair, very lively and unique, once a lifetime opportunity, perfectly safe and hassle free, very entertaining as well. Officially the Nagaur Cattle Fair-2026 was slated to run from 24th to 27th Jan. This being Monday, the 3rd day of the fair, the excitement was expected to go down a little. However, it was not to be, the power packed graceful horse dances were the show stealers. Loved watching the powerful white beauties out perform each other, what a pleasure it was. By the afternoon had had enough of the cattle fair. Had experienced the fair in full and in a unique way, sleeping inside the car for three nights among the tribal folks. Time to say goodbye and move on. The next destination being Jaisalmer Desert Festival-2026 which was slated for Jan 30-Feb 1, another three day event. It was 26th Jan, still some time for the festival to start and Jaisalmer being just 325 kilometre away, decided to drive slow and break journey on the way. Khichan, the village famous for community feeding the demoiselle crane was on the way and in order to watch the spectacle early morning, decided to stay for the night at Phalodi. Always find all night open dhabas on highways the best for sleeping inside the car. Fond one on NH-11, parked the car, enjoyed the food and slept inside the car…!!!
