Ghana officially bid farewell to the second batch of 47 health professionals, Coomprising 32 General Nurses and 15 Community, Public Health Nurses departed for St. Kitts and Nevis under the Ghana Labour Exchange Programme (GLEP)The programme is a government-managed labour mobility initiative designed to place qualified Ghanaian health professionals in partner countries through bilateral agreements while addressing unemployment among trained health workers in Ghana. The nurses will undertake a two-year placement in St. Kitts and Nevis, where they will work in one of the country's major hospitals. Under the bilateral agreement between the two countries, they will receive an agreed package of benefits, including, accommodation, remuneration (salary), transportation, meals, and other conditions of service negotiated before their departure to ensure their welfare throughout the assignment. Speaking at the departure ceremony, Deputy Health Minister Grace Ayensu-Danquah encouraged the nurses to serve with professionalism, gain valuable clinical experience, and return to Ghana with enhanced skills to strengthen the country's healthcare system. She also assured the health professionals that mechanisms were in place to support them while abroad and urged them to communicate any challenges early so they could be addressed.
