Derik'te 85 yıldır aralıksız akan çeşme için restorasyon isteği

A fountain in the Derik district of Mardin, which meets residents' water needs, has been flowing continuously since 1935. Locals, citing its historical value, are calling for its restoration. The fountain, which has been flowing continuously for 85 years in Cevizpınar, one of the largest neighborhoods in Derik's district center, has not only met the district's drinking water needs but also become a popular spot for those seeking relief from the summer heat. Residents are calling for the restoration of the fountain, which holds historical significance for them. "A FOUNTAIN THAT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US" Zekariya Sabuncu (63), a local resident, recounted his childhood memories of women washing carpets and dishes at this fountain. He said, "The water flowing from this fountain comes from the mountain. The flow of water in the mountain is long-standing. It's probably been flowing continuously for hundreds, even thousands of years. We use this water. People come and collect it for drinking and take it home. It flows 24 hours a day. Because it's constantly flowing, the drain is used for gardens. People even come from outside to collect this water. It's a very important fountain for us. We want it restored."
