Our Forgotten Gods - Meenakshi Jain - #IndicTalks

In this Indic Talk, one of the finest historians of India, Meenakshi Jain, debunks the claims made by leftist historian about Indian history. In the first part - she covers the important chapter of Indian history, before medieval era, on how Hindu kings used to treat temples and murtis of their rival Hindu kings? She also highlights the Agama practices of idol-worship especially in the case where one Hindu king defeats another Hindu king. In the second part – she shares the traumatic experience of Hindus as they witnessed the destruction of their temples and the sacred places. She mentions various historical records such as temple hagiographies and site histories to substantiate her claims. This talk also discusses the various kinds of innovative responses to Islamic iconoclasm that were developed by Hindus during the medieval period. On the whole, this talk prompts Hindus to ask a couple of poignant questions: Have we forgotten our gods? Have we forgotten the story of our temples and what happened to them?
