Really That Good: DIE HARD
REALLY THAT GOOD is a new kind of film-criticism series, built around the radical premise that just because "everyone knows" a movie is a classic doesn't mean it stops being worth a deeper look. Case in point: Who doesn't love DIE HARD, the 1988 action classic that rewrote the rules of its entire genre and made a megastar out of Bruce Willis? Few blockbuster shoot-em-ups are as sharp, well-made and just plain fun... but is fun all there is? Maybe - but even the simplest rollercoasters are mini-marvels of engineering. Was DIE HARD simply the right movie at the right time, or has it stood the test of time with superior construction? If so, just what is it that makes that construction so superior?
