Mastering A Midlength: Backside Basics
More from the Mastering a Midlength series. This time I finally go backside and demonstrate a few basic moves and techniques. It will be no surprise that the mechanics are still pretty similar: foot over the tail, see the section early, keep upper body movement to a minimum. The big difference is that with backside you do have the advantage of the rail grab take off. Just make sure your knee is tucked and only do this move when the wave offers some semblance of a tube. Otherwise you're better off upright looking for a turn section.
