Chimeric antigen receptor therapy, or CAR T-cell therapy for short, has been available to medicine for several years as a new immunotherapy for patients with leukemia and lymphoma. The high efficacy of this form of therapy, which is based on the principle of genetically modifying the body's own T immune cells, justifies considering CAR T-cell therapy a "game changer" for oncology patients with these diseases.
