Orkneys Hill Of The Dead

Today we explore Wideford Hill Cairn a 5000 year old Neolithic Chambered Cairn situated half way up Wideford Hill on the main island of Orkney roughly between Kirkwall and Stromness. This was a bit of an unexpected find for me as I hadn’t heard of it before and just seen the sign for it on my way back to Stromness. Although very windy it is a beautiful walk set in a spectacular location with views for miles across Orkney. Full of history and also you are able to descend into it as well via a hatch and ladder.
