Enduring Atlantic Storms: Sick Crew, Big Waves, and LANDFALL! Atlantic Crossing End!

After leaving from Gran Canaria in what looked like the perfect weather window, and then being forced to run south to below Cape Verde to avoid the tropical storm that developed in just a few days, we had FINALLY TURNED WEST towards the Caribbean But of course, the waves from the storm reached us, and went on, and on, and on, accompanied by winds consistently above 30 knots, and often over 40 knots (and this time, we knew to take the hydrovane down if not in use in heavier seas... no more breakages!) Add in squalls, severe sickness, and sleep deprivation (Bryony's particularly bad day was after only 4 hours of sleep in 48 hours, juggling both being a nurse and undertaking her watches). It was HARD. We didn't quite film the lowest points... there were moments at which we were so utterly exhausted that we were in nothing short of survival mode, and hand helming through protracted heavy weather on top of that is incredibly challenging. BUT WE BLOODY DID IT! WE SAILED ACROSS THE ATLANTIC OCEAN! It took 25 days, we covered 3290nm, we made landfall in Martinique, and it is COMPLETE. Thank you to our loved ones for letting us head out over that horizon despite your worries.
