Mal de mer : à Caen, la science cherche un remède

Motion sickness affects everyone, from sailors to drivers and even astronauts. In Caen, a scientific program called Navelys is working to understand and combat this phenomenon. Skipper Louis Duc is participating as a consultant in this experiment, conducted with a professor from the Caen University Hospital. Using a state-of-the-art dynamic platform, researchers are measuring each individual's ability to maintain balance when vision and ground cues are disrupted. The goal: to understand the mechanisms of motion sickness, identify its causes, and develop solutions, particularly through virtual reality, to make the maritime environment accessible to all. Louis Duc's boat will soon be equipped with sensors for measurements under real-world sailing conditions. Report by: M. Michel-Dherissart, C. Perriaud, A. Myhie, and S.
