How to create shiny glossy button in GIMP

Hey guys, welcome back to NGB 2.0 and in this video, I want to show you how you can create shiny glossy button using GIMP. Now it's actually super easy to create shiny glossy button using the GIMP editor. So without further delay, let's get started and see how you can do this. Now to demonstrate this, first, I would like to create a new image with a white background. So to do that, go to 'File' and then click on 'New'.Let the 'Width' and 'Height' of my new image be 1280 and 720. And inside advanced options, select the option 'White' inside 'Fill with' and now click on 'OK'. Next, you need to create a rectangular selection on top of your image. So select the rectangle select tool from the toolbox. And now create a rectangular selection on top of your image like this. Next, you need to round the corners of your rectangle. So to do that, you need to first select the 'Rounded corners' option, which is present inside the 'Rectangle Select' settings. And now increase the 'Radius' to somewhere around, let's say, let's say 72. Next, you need to go to the 'Select' menu and click on this option that is 'Save to Channel'. Now what you need to do next is you need to create a new transparent layer on top of your background layer. So create a new transparent layer. And now fill the rectangular selection with the color black. So first, let me set the color black in my background color. And now go to 'Edit' and click on 'Fill with BG Color'. Next, create a new transparent layer on top of the layer which you had just created. So let me create a new transparent layer. And now what you need to do is you need to go to the 'Select' menu once again, and then click on this option that is 'Feather'. Now feather the selection by somewhere around, let's say, 250 pixels and now click on 'OK'. And now what you need to do is you need to actually fill this particular selection with the color green. So let me set the color green in my background color. And now let me go to 'Edit' and select 'Fill with BG Color'. Perfect. Now go to the 'Channels' tab and select this layer that is 'Selection Mask copy'. And now click on this option which says 'Replace the selection with this channel'. All right, let's go back to our 'Layers' tab and select the layer which is present right at the top. Now go to the 'Select' menu and click on this option that is 'Invert'. Now simply press delete on the keyboard and once again go to the 'Select' menu and click on 'Invert'. Now what you need to do next is you need to create a new transparent layer on top of the layer which you had just created. So let me create a new transparent layer. And now we will use the ellipse select tool to create a new type of selection merging the existing rectangular selection with our ellipse selection. So first let me select the ellipse select tool from the toolbox and now look inside the ellipse select settings and inside 'Mode' you need to select this particular mode which is present right at the last and that is 'Intersect with the current selection'. So select this mode and now you need to create your ellipse selection on top of your rectangular selection like this. Perfect. Next what you need to do is you need to go to the 'Select' menu and you need to click on this option that is 'Shrink'. Now shrink the selection by 3 pixels and now click on 'OK'. Now what you need to do is you need to select the 'Gradient Tool' from the toolbox and inside 'Mode' you need to select this particular gradient mode that is 'FG to Transparent'. And now make sure that your foreground color is set to white and now draw out a straight line like this on top of your image. Perfect. Once you are done simply press enter on the keyboard and now you need to go to 'Select' and then click on 'None'. Perfect. So we are almost done with our shiny glossy button. Now what we need to do next is we need to write some text on top of our button. So let me just select the 'Text Tool' from the toolbox and let me create a text box on top of my button like this and now let me write my text. So let me just write let's say GIMP and let me change the font of my text to 'Tahoma Bold' and let me also increase the text size to somewhere around let's say 130 pixels and let me also change the font color to somewhere around let's say this particular color right here and now click on 'OK'. I would like to center align my text. So let me just center align my text right about here and now let me just do one final thing and that is I would like this particular layer which is the second layer to be present right at the top. So select the second layer and then click on this option that is 'Raise this layer one step in the layer stack' and that's it. So this is how you can actually create a shiny glossy button using GIMP. #gimp #gimptutorial
